A high powered delegation headed by the health minister accompanied by a bunch of senior doctors from Somaliland yesterday traveled to Togwajale, a commercial hub that links Ethiopia to Somaliland. The health minister, Mr. Omar Ali Abdilahi met with his counterpart from Ethiopia’s Somali regional health minister. Ethiopia, Somaliland recently launched unprecedented campaigns aimed at eradicating polio from the region with the support from UN agencies. The health minister from Somaliland speaking at the ceremony has announced that the polio elimination campaign will commence in border townships between the Ethiopia and Somaliland. The two neighboring states established closer partnerships in the areas of security, trade, education and health.
