The Danab Commando forces of the Somali National Army—specifically the 161st Battalion—conducted a planned operation in the Leego area of the Lower Shabelle region.
The operation thwarted a plot to plant landmines on roads used by Somali civilians, particularly the routes connecting the Lower Shabelle and Bay regions.
During the operation, Danab forces also apprehended individuals suspected of belonging to a network involved in organizing and preparing explosive devices.
The forces stated that the detained individuals were planning attacks intended to harm civilians and travelers using the vital roads connecting these regions.
The Somali National Army is conducting operations to secure roads and local areas, while also targeting networks involved in preparing explosives and acts of insecurity.
