Badhaadhe District Commissioner confirms the number of Al-Shabab fighters killed in Kudhaa exceeded 200.

The District Commissioner of Badhaadhe in the Lower Jubba Region, Hon. Hassan Nur Abdi, provided further details on Sunday about the damage inflicted on Al-Shabab fighters during the recent fighting in Kudhaa settlement and its surrounding areas. According to the Commissioner, 250 Al-Shabab fighters were killed in Kudhaa Island and its surroundings. He also confirmed that eight prisoners from Al-Shabab were captured by Jubaland security forces and Danab Commandos. The Commissioner stated, “These men launched an attack on us, but we resisted and pushed them back. Their death toll is around 250. Some are still being transported, but I can confirm that 250 have been killed.” He also witnessed the destruction of eight combat vehicles belonging to Al-Shabab during the skirmishes and airstrikes in Kudhaa and its surrounding areas. He added, “They have suffered heavy damage and will not be able to launch attacks on Jubaland settlements again.” The Commissioner also mentioned that security forces are still pursuing Al-Shabab fighters who fled from the fighting in Kudhaa. He emphasized that the situation in Kudhaa is now calm and residents who were displaced during the skirmishes have started to return to their homes on the island.
