According to reports, fierce fighting broke out between Ethiopian troops and Al-Shabab militants in Wajid district of Bakool region.

The Ethiopian troops left from the airport in Wajid district and were on their way to a military barrack on the outskirts of Wajid district after Al-Shabab militants ambushed the Ethiopian military convoy.
Sources within Wajid district say that the fierce fighting lasted for hours, and the two sides used all kinds of heavy weapons.
Reports say that there are casualties including deaths and injuries.
It is confirmed that 4 Ethiopian soldiers were killed while several others were wounded.
Reports further said that Al-Shabab militants destroyed combat vehicles from the Ethiopian troops.
The Ethiopian troops conducted operation in search of the militants that launched the attack.
Ethiopian Commanders who spoke said that the troops repulsed the attack carried out by Al-shabab militants.
Commanders further stated that operation is underway in search of the Al-Shabab fighters.
Tension is running high and Ethiopian troops as well as Somali National Army are currently in the area where the fighting occurred.
Once Al-Shabab fighters were defeated in Middle Shabelle province, the militants relocated to Bakool region.
Al-Shabab carried out attacks against military bases manned by Ethiopian Defense Forces and Somali National Army (SNA).
