The Commander of U.S. Africa Command General Michael Langley, has said that ISIS group has relocated its center for leading int’l operations in Somalia.
The Commander made the remarks after General Michael Langley briefed U.S. Senate of Armed Services Committee (SASC) on AFRICOM plans in this year 2025.
He indicated that the African continent has a strategic importance for the U.S. Defense Ministry (Pentagon).
General Langley told U.S. lawmakers that the threat posed by the terrorist groups is increasing particularly Deash.
He revealed that Deash directs its int’l operations in Somalia.
He further said that the extremist groups are exploiting the worsening economic and security situations in the Horn of Africa particularly Somalia.
He stated that terrorist networks thrive in areas where there is a security vulnerabilities.
General Langley said: ” Africa is still a strategic alliance with U.S. particularly in the defense, but it has become a breeding ground for int’l terrorism that exploits the hardships that exist in the continent in order to thrive and disseminate their ideologies.”
U.S. Africa Command Commander, Michael Langley warned ISIS’s increasing threat.
He said: ” ISIS directs its international operations in Somalia. If it is not stopped, it will have a negative impact on U.S home soil.”
The remarks came after U.S Africa Command increased its operations against terrorist groups in Africa.
U.S. Africa Command played a huge role when it comes to the airstrikes against Deash which are aimed to drive out ISIS fighters from Al-Miskaad Mountain Range in Bari region.
