Abdi Rashid Janan, the former commander of Jubbaland Intelligence and the region’s overall security chief, addressed the “Hilaac” Brigade intelligence forces operating in Doolow district and surrounding areas this morning.
Janan spoke to the troops as Gedo region security forces conduct operations and efforts to bolster security in areas along the borders and within their zones of operation.
During his address, Janan identified terrorist groups as the primary enemy of the security forces and urged the troops to persist in their mission of ensuring security and protecting the public.
He further stated that anyone who undermines local peace or harms civilians would be considered an enemy of peace, emphasizing the importance of security forces protecting civilians and their property.
The commander commended the Hilaac Brigade troops for their hard work in Doolow district and other parts of the Gedo region.
Janan noted that the forces bear a vital responsibility regarding security, urging them to intensify operations against armed groups and those destabilizing the area’s security. He also informed the troops that they would receive their entitlements in the coming days—a matter he described as crucial for forces that have long been engaged in maintaining security.
The Hilaac Brigade is among the security forces operating in parts of the Gedo region, specifically in the district of Doolow and its surrounding areas.
These troops contribute to security operations, the prevention of armed group activities, and the protection of key local facilities and sites.
The Gedo region has recently been a focal point for security operations, with government forces and Jubbaland administration troops undertaking various efforts to bolster security.
Janan’s remarks also come at a time when security forces are expected to heighten their vigilance and protection of the civilian population, particularly in rural areas and regions near the borders.
