At least two civilians were killed and two other soldiers were seriously injured on Saturday in a deadly landmine explosion in Xawaaley district which is located near Bal’ad town in Middle Shabelle region.
The landmine explosion occurred at a checkpoint where Ma’awisley forces were stationed in Jameco Misro-Yarey area.
The responsibility of planting the landmine was blamed on Alshabab militants.
The two soldiers who were seriously hurt in the explosion were transported to the capital Mogadishu to receive further medical attention.
The situation remains tense where the explosion took place.
Local clan forces immediately launched man-hunt operation to nab the culprits who planted the landmine.
The Somali gov’t intensified its operations which are aimed at flushing out Alshabab remnants from Middle Shabelle region.
