The Somali Gov’t said that at least 20 Alshabab militants were killed in a battle that occurred in Boos Hareeri areas of the Middle Shabelle region.
The fierce fighting broke out on Friday when Alshabab fighters luanched an attack on gov’t troops positions.
A statement released by the gov’t of Somalia confirmed that the Somali troops and Ma’awisley fighters seized vehicles and military equipment from Alshabab fighters during the attack.
The President of Hirshabelle state, Ali Gudlawe, confirmed that Alshabab was responsible for an attack which resulted in the death of senior Somali military officer Major Abukar Abdulle Raage Gar-Maqaate.
Several soldiers accompanying the demise of senior military officer were also killed during the attack.
