Somaliland government has promised to carry out renovation works to Masjid al-Qiblatayn also known as Labo-Qibla Mosque, a historic mosque situated in Western Awdal province in Somaliland.
This was disclosed by the minister responsible for trade, tourism and industry while briefing the parliamentary committee in charge of finance affairs.
The chairperson of finance parliamentary subcommittee of the House of Reps. Honorable Obsie told the press that the minister of the current administration is desirous to rebuild, restore and renovate the historical and tourist destination across Somaliland in a bid to lure foreign tourists.
Obsie said that it is therefore the government commitment that the historic and oldest mosque in Zeila will undergo major renovations thanks to the public funds.
It is not quite clear when the renovation and reconstruction of Masjid al-Qiblatayn will begin.
