The dialogue in which the Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud extended an invitation to the political stakeholders which was supposed to officially kick-off in Mogadishu on Sunday has been postponed.
The postponement of the meeting has not been officially stated, bur reports say that the gathering was delayed on matters pertaining to technical issues.
Reports further indicate that Villa Somalia is exerting maximum efforts in order to convince some of the opposition politicians to attend the gathering.
Some of the opposition politicians including former leaders as well as political parties have already made clear that they will be in attendance of the meeting unless the Somali Gov’t makes clear the agendas of the meeting; whether Jubaland and Puntland administrations will be attending.
Villa Somalia has not officially issued a statement pertaining to the reasons for the delay of the dialogue which escalated the anxiety that the opposition groups have.
The current Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who spoke of the current situation in the country has said that his administration is committed to have real genuine consultations which are aimed to resolve the current political standoff.
He said that the Somali gov’t is ready to listen to the grievances in order to discuss the future of the country.
The upcoming meeting will be a vital chance in which the gov’t and the opposition groups will get together in order exchange views pertaining to the elections, constitution, the security, reconciliation, but its postponement of the meeting has dashed the high expectations that there will be a broad based dialogue.
