Somaliland has geared up to conduct refugee and asylum seekers census in the country.
The Vice President has launched on Saturday a meeting aimed at finding out the exact number of refugees that are officially registered.
The meeting was organized by the National Displacement and Refugee Agency (NDRA).
Speaking at the gathering, the VP, Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail alias Sayli’I has underscored the significance of finding out the number of refugees that Somaliland is hosting.
He praised the refugee agency for conducting such tremendous work.
“After salutation, It is great honor and privilege to attend this vital meeting which is intended to gather the number of refugees and asylum seekers in Somaliland.” Sayli’i said
The VP has revealed that refugees in the country are not ostracized and live side by side in peace and harmony with the citizens.
“It shows that We (SL) respect the international laws that led to refugee to have safe haven in Somaliland who have fled their homeland due to civil wars although Somaliland is not internationally recognized.” Sayli’I said
He urged the government departments to cooperate with refugee agency which has the overall duty to collect the exact data of refugees in Somaliland.
