Somalia’s Minister of Ports & Transport Meets His Omani Counterpart

Mogadishu– Somalia’s Federal Gov’t and Oman discussed the construction and modernization of several ports in Somalia after the officials of the two sides met and held high level discussions in Mogadishu.

Minister of Ports and Transport of Somalia, Mr. Mohamud Adan Geesood met and held high level discussions with a delegation headed by the minister of transport, ports and technology of Oman, who arrived in Mogadishu on an official working visit.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the construction of Hobyo port in which Oman is keen to play  al lion’s share when it comes to the investment of the port’s modernization.

The meeting saw the attendance of Somali Members of parliament, committee responsible for the reconstruction of Hobyo port, some of the business people and the Omani ambassador to Somalia.

The minister of transport, and ports of Oman is accompanied by heads of organizations and firms based in Oman that are keen to invest the construction of several ports including Hobyo.

The Oman transport minister and his deputy minister pledged that the gov’t of Oman is committed to invest the modernization of Hobyo and other key ports in Somalia.

The ports once refurbished, will enhance the economic development of Somalia
