Somalian Court Sentences Al Shabab members to life imprisonment

Dhuusamareeb  – The military court of Somalia has today made a ruling in case a where a man was accused of being a member of Al-Shabaab and attempting to blow himself up at a ceremony in Guriel district in Galgadud region.

The suspect Mohamud Abdi Abdirahman and another man, Ali Dhubub Nure Siad, were both charged with being members of al-Shabaab.

The prosecutors of the federal government of Somalia said security forces arrested Mohamud Abdi Abdirahman on 23/5/2019, while wearing explosive vests and attempting to detonate an explosion in Guri’el district in Galmudug, where leaders of the Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a group were meeting.

The second suspect, Ali Dhub Nuure Siyad, was charged by the court for doing surveillance on behalf of Alshabab before the event and brought the suicide bomber to the scene.

The two have been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Military court of the federal government of Somalia in Dusamareeb town.
The two have a period of 30 days to appeal to the military courts’ decision.
