Somalia’s FM, Mohamed Abdirisak and Kenya’s ambassador to Somalia on Monday agreed to further strengthen friendly relations and cooperation in various spheres for the benefit of the citizens of the two countries.

This was disclosed in a statement from Somalia’s Foreign Affairs Ministry during a high level meeting between Somalia’s FM and Kenya’s envoy to Somalia in Mogadishu.

Honorable Abdirisak met and held discussions with Lt. General Rtd) Lucas Tumbo, Kenya’s envoy to Somalia.

The two sides discussed their cooperation and directions for the future, and agreed on the importance of the traditional relations, solidarity and friendship among the two countries.

The FM of Somalia pledged to arrange a meeting of the Somali-Kenya joint commission for cooperation.

The FM of Somalia together with Kenyan counterpart held a meeting in Mogadishu on August 8, where they agreed to expedite the third session of the Joint Committee to move forward to areas of mutual interest including trade, investment, defense, agriculture and tourism.

The meeting comes barely weeks after the Int’l Criminal Court of Justice ruled in favor of Somalia in a dispute with Kenya over Indian Ocean Maritime.
