Somalia’s President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on Wednesday flanked by the Army Chief and the director of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), held discussions with Ma’awisley leaders. The meeting was held in Moqokori district. Hirshabelle officials and intellectuals were also in attendance during the meeting with the President.
The objective behind the meeting the president held with intellectuals hailing from Moqokori was to discuss with the ongoing operations which are aimed at flushing out Al-Shabab remnants from the region. The Head of State listened Moqokori residents as well as the leaders of Ma’awisley forces on their advice pertaining to the fight against Al-Shabab militants. He lauded Hirshabelle community for shedding their blood in a bid to eliminate the threat posed by the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-shabab who are killing the Somali populace.
The President will spent the second night in the frontlines in Moqokori district in Hiran region. He praised Hiran residents for playing a crucial role in the fight against Al-shabab militants. He personally interacted with the local clan forces known as Ma’awisley. The brave local residents have expressed their commitment to stand with the Somali troops when it comes to the fight against the militant group. They said that they remain ready to fight in other districts. Moqokori local forces known as Ma’awisley taught a lesson to the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab. They have displayed their readiness and that they are well-prepared for the offensive against Al-Shabab militants.
