Somalia has issued a stern warning to individuals spreading misinformation, which will undermine the national security as well as spreading false information.
This was announced by Somalia’s cabinet minister during a meeting convened in Mogadisu on Thursday.
The cabinet warned from the media and the Somali populace to refrain from spreading misinformation that will jeopardize the national security.
The cabinet said that the National Security Agencies will take immediate action those implicated of spreading such false information.
The cabinet also banned all weapons and combat vehicles from Adden Adde airport.
This is part of an ongoing efforts to bolster security of Mogadishu.
The Somali Gov’t previously issued measures which were aimed at preventing the spread of rumors and misinformation.
The gov’t in particular warned individuals who use social media to post misinformation which may lead to insecurity.
