The Somali Federal Gov’t on Thursday reinforced its military presence in Adan Laxeey district in Middle Shabelle region by deploying fresh troops in order to intensify the operations against al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Alshabab.
The district that the gov’t deployed additional troops is part of an area that Alshabab recently carried out an attack. Alshabab militant group increased its attacks against gov’t troops stationed in Middle Shabelle region. The troops deployed in Adan Laxeey is part of the specially trained police unit known as Harima’ad. The Somali troops backed by local forces carried out operations which were aimed at flushing out Alshabab remnants from territory.
The Army Chief, the Commander of Ground Forces of SNA and the Chairman of the Armed Forces Court were on an inspection tour to the Middle Shabelle region in order to boost the moral of the men in uniform who are in the frontlines to defend the country from the threat posed by the militant group of Alshabab.
