President Bihi’s Ethiopian visit was aimed at bolstering bilateral relations

HARGEISA- The government of Somaliland has had a positive and articulate talk with the neighbouring partner Ethiopia.

The assurance was given to the nation by the Presidential delegation upon their return to the country on Friday after a two-day official visit to the Ethiopian capital of Addis Abba.

The two sides had the Somaliland delegation led by H.E Muse Bihi Abdi while Premier Abiy Ahmed Ali led the Ethiopian one. While speaking to the press upon the delegation’s disembarking from the plane, interior minister Hon Mohamed Kahin Ahmed noted that the talks, which focused on bilateral relations as concerns commerce, trade and security relations went smoothly.

“The President and the Ethiopian premier reached great understanding through lengthy talks that went down articulately well”, said the minister.

Hon Kahin said that while SL’s team was led by the President while flanked by the foreign minister, himself, finance and the trade ministers that of Ethiopia had the Premier accompanied by his foreign minister, finance and state minister of foreign affairs amongst other senior state officials.

“We focused on ways and means of bolstering our bilateral relations to further heights,” he added.

He cited, trade security and political affairs as some of the points pondered upon. He pointed out the fact that both sides agreed upon working towards pacification ideals in and of the region as a whole and the resumption of the stalled Somaliland-Somalia talks.

He thanked the Ethiopian government for extending them the official invitation and accorded them the warm reception.
