Addis Ababa–The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) today held discussion with heads of political parties that recently returned home to engage in peaceful political programs.
Ambassador Samia Zekaria, chairperson of NEBE, briefed them on the reforms underway in the country.
NEBE has started consultations with stakeholders and gathering inputs to make the upcoming election peaceful, free and credible, she said.
“We are working to improve our best practices and get rid of our weaknesses,” Ambassador Samia told the attendees.
Awdiro Tadesse, head of legal service at NEBE, presented a paper on electoral law and other related issues such as registration, duties and responsibilities of political parties.
Ambassador Samia and other heads of the Board responded to questions raised by the participants, it was noted.
