In a press statement released yesterday, the ministry confirmed that elections are a constitutional right for every Somali citizen, allowing them to play a significant role in strengthening public trust, promoting transparency, and encouraging community participation in the election of the country’s leadership. The Ministry emphasized that the election process will be free and fair, based on the principles of democracy, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights. Furthermore, the Ministry of Interior has instructed all agencies involved in the elections to carry out their duties in full compliance with the country’s laws. The Somali Federal Government has also reiterated its commitment to strengthening statehood and implementing transparent elections that can be trusted. The statement also referenced the 2012 constitution, specifically article 120, which states that the power to change regional administrations lies with the Federal Member States. The statement further clarified that the letter issued by the Somali Federal Ministry of Interior was not in line with the agreements of statehood and the Federal system
