Mayor Moge says No fatal casualties in Hargeisa Market Inferno

Mayor of Hargeisa Cllr. Moge has stated that there are no casualties caused by the fire that broke out on Saturday night and completely destroyed Waheen market in Hargeisa.

“Thank God so far we have no affirmed fatalities on any deaths from the blaze. The fire destroyed the property inside the market.” said Hargeisa Mayor.

He said that multitudes of members of the public that gathered at the burning market hampered the urgency of putting out the fire or controlling it.

However, it was at last successfully contained and has not spread to other parts of the city, he noted.

Cllr. Moge urged community to cease the custom of gathering whenever fire broke out for they would block efforts of the fire brigade to contain infernos.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Somaliland HE. Abdirizak Khalif Ahmed, his deputies, and all Members of the House of Representatives are deeply saddened by the loss of the Somaliland community.

They prayed God to substitute their lost property with good

Similarly, opposition leaders expressed their dismay and solidarity to the business community their property destroyed by the fire.

WADDANI Presidential Candidate Hon. Abdirahman Irro, speaking on the inferno stated, “A great tragedy befell Hargeisa tonight, we pray to God to extinguish the fire that has consumed our city. I urge the public to assist the emergency services in extinguishing this fire which, God willing, will be extinguished.

Hon. Irro added his message, “Traders in this market have been instrumental in the country’s economic growth, relying on the lives of many families, we share the loss of property and the damage it has done to many lives, good health, God willing. The government and the people of the Republic of Somaliland should make a national plan to help those who have lost their property and injured themselves, and think about how to take great care nor happening in future.
