Reports from Abud Wak district in Galguduud region confirmed that lighting struck in the heart of the town which resulted the death of one person and injured two other people.
The lighting occurred due to torrential rains that lasted for seven hours in the town and the surrounding areas. The person who died after the lighting struck is reported to be a woman and was among the local residents living in Abud Wak town.
The two people who have sustained injuries are currently receiving medical treatments in the medical centers in the town.
The torrential rains also disrupted the traffic in the town and nearby settlements. The torrential rains that have started in Abud Wak and its environs comes at a time when spring rains have commenced across the regions in Somalia.
