Kenya’s position on the status of Somaliland is in line with that of the African Union (AU), said by the FM of Kenya, Monica Juma. Ms. Juma went on to say that Kenya recognizes the border demarcations dating back to the colonial era as AU reached the decision in 1964. Ms. Monica Juma asserted that Kenya has got interests to protect in many nations before they become countries that are internationally recognized. Kenya’s FM stated that Kenya used to have liaison offices in South Sudan before it became a recognized state. Ms. Juma added that we are sort of like that country. She added that we have representatives in many countries. She went on to add that does that mean that we won’t deal with people?

Ms. Monica reiterated that her country will continue to engage with these countries.
