Jubaland regional authority orders closure of mosques amid fears of Covid-19

Jubaland regional government has convened an emergency meeting with religious leaders and imams at mosques in Kismayo to close mosques amid fears the spread of Covid-19. President Ahmed Madobe has ordered the closure of the mosques and at the same time called on Imams to adhere government directives. Jubaland regional authority has issued strict measures which were aimed at containing the spread of Covid-19. The directives included the closure of playgrounds and hotels. The authority further informed mosques to close ablution facilities and suspend Taraweeh prayers during the holy month of Ramadan. Jubaland committee against Covid-19 said that the tally of the virus infection now stands at 58. The death toll is four.
