The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Essa Keyd Mohamud has revealed that the President of the Republic of Somaliland H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi will travel to the United States in early 2022, in a brief to the House of Representatives on his activities, prior approval.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Abdirizak Khalif Ahmed, told the lawmakers, that Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Essa Keyd, who has returned from a working visit, come today to the House for approval, but he will first briefly address to the House on his tenure and plans for the near future.
Dr. Essa, first praised the efforts of all the former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, entrusted to the ministry and what they have accomplished for the quest for recognition and his recent visits to the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom and recently at the Middle East Countries. He elaborated a new foreign policy framework they will pursue, among others, first priority is to gain international recognition, but, similarly, we want to engage and convince our achievements to the world, as the Important position our country situated, the stability, democracy and the recent combined elections, where much of the World and observers commended, is a treasury we can sell to the World.
Foreign Minister Dr. Essa stated that his recent visit to the United States was a prelude to the visit of President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi to the USA “In order to achieve the goal of the Ministry entrusted which is the quest for international recognition, we have initiated to craft out community empowerment and the Somaliland Diaspora be taught their role and contribution to the furthering the Somaliland issues, he said,
“In the past, we had representatives who did not cooperate with the Diaspora. My speeches have always included that getting recognition while in Hargeisa is impossible but needed to search to the pockets of the Diaspora.
We will bring back all world Somaliland envoys to home to update and equip them an important lessons foreign diplomacy experts will train, in order at the end to convey a unified message all to the world.
At the end, Speaker H.E. Abdirizak told the 59-member present today at the House to vote approval of the Foreign Minister Dr Essa, 57 voted in favors, and one member abstained, and the Speaker did not vote.
