EU, Somaliland Government sign program aimed at reforming the rule of law

Somaliland’s gov’t along with its int’l partners today launched a program to reform and strengthens the rule of law in the country.

The project will reform the nation’s rule of law, strengthening law enforcement and the judiciary.

The initiative dubbed “The Joint Rule Law Program” was today signed by the minister of interior, Mohamed Kahin Ahmed and the European Envoy to Somalia, Nicolas Berlanga Martinez.

The launching ceremony was attended by all relevant ministers of justice, constitution, planning, and interior along with the attorney general of SL.

Also present was the European Union ambassador to Somalia, Nicolas Berlanga and the Swedish envoy to Somalia, Staffan Tillander, underscored the importance of this program to SL especially this year when the country will hold parliamentary elections.

He further indicated that the Swedish government will support Somaliland on maritime law enforcement.
