Ethiopian PM Returns Home after Concluding Visits to China, Eritrea

Addis Ababa September 06/2018 Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed returned home after concluding his visits to China and Eritrea.

The Premier arrived in the Port city of Assab, Eritrea on Wednesday for a two-day working visit after attending the 7th Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing, China.

He also discussed with Chinese President Xi Jinping and various leaders and representatives of international organizations on bilateral and multilateral issues.

During his two-day working visit to Eritrea, the Prime Minister visited Massawa and Assab ports.

In the meantime, the first Ethiopian Commercial Ship yesterday docked at Massawa after two decades.

The ship, called “Mekelle” arrived in Massawa from Saudi Arabia. It carried 11,000 tons of export commodities to China.

The Prime Minister also has official reopened Ethiopia embassy in Asmara, Eritrea at the presence of Eritrean President Isaias Afeworki.

Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia have signed joint Declaration on Comprehensive Cooperation on Wedesday.

The leaders of the three countries agreed to bolster comprehensive cooperation that advances the goals of their peoples, build close political, economic, social, cultural and security ties and work in coordination to promote regional peace and security.

They have also established a Joint High-Level Committee to coordinate their efforts in the framework of the Joint Declaration; which is in inspired by the aspirations of their peoples.
