Ethiopian government has shut down all its borders to prevent the spread of coronavirus following a meeting with head of security sector, the PM Abiy Ahmed announced border closure and strict measures.
The PM further said security sector will begin to reinforce measures taken by the government pertaining to large gatherings and maintain social distancing.
He also called upon on gov’t institutions including political parties to adhere to social distancing and preventive measures when convening meetings.
The PM further urged the gov’t institutions to facilitate working from home options.
The government has earmarked 5 billion Birr which is equivalent to 150 million US dollars for the prevention and spread of coronavirus outbreak.
