14 Sep 2019 – (EP) President Isaias Afwerki has arrived in Khartoum today to start his official state visit to the country. He was greeted upon arrival at Khartoum International airport by General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, President of Sudan’s Sovereign Council.
President Isaias congratulated the leadership and people of Sudan for their historic achievement in bringing to an end a painful chapter that lasted for 3 decades.
He also said that the people of Eritrea will never forget the support of the Sudanese people, in their struggle for freedom.
“The two sides expressed their determination to recoup the lost opportunity. They agreed to promote economic, trade, political, diplomatic as well as security and military cooperation,” said Eritrean Information Minister Yemane Gebremeskel. They also agreed to work together for effective regional integration.
The Eritrean entourage includes Foreign Minister Osman Saleh and Presidential Adviser Yemane Gebreab.
