Council of Ministers Addresses on Drought effects, Security

The 87th session of the Council of Ministers, chaired by the President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Muse Bihi Abdi, flanked by the Vice President of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman A. Ismail (Sayli’i), on Thursday 10th February 2022, addressed a number of issues on the security situation, the impact of widespread drought and other important issues.

The Minister of Information who is also Spokesperson of the Government in his official capacity, Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Kore, addressed the media at the end of the conference noted that the drought situation in the country was the main focus of the conference.

“The cabinet has held in-depth discussions on the drought situation in the country, with the President already having established a committee led by Vice President H.E.                                                             Abdirahman Sayli’i”, he said.

He added that their work was going on well, hence ‘is being done at the right places and in the right way, with articulate and the pious people. ”

Other issues discussed at the Council of Ministers meeting included how the public should beware of widespread falsehoods through the confusion in social media. The council urged the public to shun unverified and dubious news from such outlets that are far from the truth and check everything posted on social media.

Finally, Minister Hon. Kore stated that the council discussed in depth the security situation in the country, and the Minister of Interior, Hon. Mohamed Kahin Ahmed briefed the council on the general security of the country hence assuring them that it was quite stable.
