With support from UKaid, UNFPA Somalia and the Somaliland Ministry of planning
are conducting the first Somali Health and Demographic Survey (SHDS) among the nomadic households in temporary settlements. The survey is currently ongoing in #Somaliland regions of Marodijeh and Sahil. The enumarators travel from one household to another which is sometimes between a distance of one to five kilometers and due to the rocky terrain, they often have to travel on foot.
The survey will help gather critical health and demographic data supporting evidence- based desicion making by all stakeholders when formulating effective policies, and helping measure progress against development plans and the sustainable development goals.
