U.S. AFrica Command Conduct Airstrikes, killing ISIS members

In coordination with the Federal Gov’t of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted airstrikes against ISIS-Somalia on Feb.21 to Feb. 22, 2025.

The airstrikes targeted ISIS members who were stationed in Al-Miskad mountain ranges in Bari region. Reports confirm three ISIS members killed during the airstrike. Pictures released show that combat Landcruiser vehicles and motorbikes destroyed during the airstrike. Puntland security forces are currently in control of the areas which used to be ISIS stronghold. The security forces eliminated ISIS insurgents from most areas in Al-Miskad mountain ranges. Puntland security forces took control of Curaar and Gaatir-oodan which were ISIS’s stronghold. The airstrikes are part of an ongoing efforts to support the operations that Puntland security forces conducted areas where ISIS members were stationed. The Somali gov’t along with its allied in the world including U.S. are committed to flush out ISIS members from the Somali territory. Commanders who led the military operations pledged that they will intensify ongoing efforts to get rid of ISIS members from Puntland territory.
