U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), carried out an airstrike targeting ISIS members who have bases in Togga Baallade and Al-Miskaad Mountains in Bari region on Tuesday. In a press statement released by AFRICOM, said that the airstrike took place, specifically 70 km south-east from Bosaso. AFRICOM, in collaboration with the Somali Federal Government, and the armed forces, said that it will continue operations which are aimed to degrade the operational capabilities of ISIS in Somalia in order to deter ISIS threat in U.S. soil, U.S. army and its citizens based in overseas. Details of the units and equipment used for the operation had been kept under wraps in order to protect the security of the operation. The airstrike took place when Puntland reduced the operations against ISIS, while withdrawing its combat troops from Al-Miskaad Mountain, who engaged armed skirmishes with ISIS. Puntland believes that a number of ISIS fighters are in blockade in Al-Miskaad Mountain who are cut off from logistics that they received from cover-up people who send them food and livestock covertly.
