The Somali government Announces that 25 Al-Shabaab members were killed in an airstrike in Hiiraan.

The Somali National Army in collaboration with international partners carried out an airstrike targeting locations occupied by Al-Shabab in Suullaay area that lies 17 km south of Teedaan settlement in Hiiraan region. 25 Al-Shabab members were successfully eliminated while 18 others suffered catastrophic injuries. Meanwhile, four Al-Shabab members who fled from the area surrendered to the Somali National Army.

They were identified as Adam Mohamed Jimale known as Abas, Ibrahim Adam Dahir, Adan Abshir Abdi, and Nuurow Aawid Ali known as Amiir. Meanwhile, other Al-Shabab members fled from the area by leaving their weapons behind as they were utterly defeated. The operation is part of the ongoing intense offensive that the Somali troops are conducting with the support of the international partners in weakening the operational capabilities of Al-Shabab.

It also aims in pursuing and eradicating the group members in order to ensure the security and the stability in the country. The defense ministry expresses deep appreciation to the international partners for their support in combating terrorism. It also confirms that the Somali National Army will continue operations in pursuing and eradicating Al-Shabab while implementing the orders of the Somali President in eliminating terrorism from the country
