The Meteorology Department of the Somaliland Ministry of Agricultural Development has issued a report regarding the temperature forecast for the region this week.
Temperatures are expected to range between 27°C and 36°C.
A statement from the Ministry indicates a high probability of above-average temperatures across most regions and districts of Somaliland.
“High temperatures can impact livestock, water resources, health, and agricultural production.
The public is urged to take appropriate measures to cope with the heat, such as drinking plenty of water to prevent dehydration and avoiding intense sunlight, especially during peak heat hours. Wearing light, breathable clothing helps keep the body cool. Special care should be taken of children, the elderly, and vulnerable individuals, as they are easily affected by the heat,” the Ministry’s statement read.
Additionally, the forecast indicates that rainfall is expected in parts of Somaliland’s regions and districts between September 29 and October 5, 2026. Areas where rainfall is expected include Burao, Ceel-Afweyn, Oodweyne, Hargeisa, Gabiley, Las Anod, Taleex, and Baki.
The projected rainfall for the country’s regions ranges from 20mm to 50mm, with the forecast indicating that the rain may fall in various locations and at different times.
Therefore, it is crucial for the general public, farmers, and livestock herders to closely monitor the latest weather updates and warnings.
Advisory: The public is urged to exercise caution—particularly in areas prone to flash floods or water runoff—and to heed the official advice and warnings issued by the Ministry of Agricultural Development and the Meteorology Department, as stated by the Ministry of Agriculture of Somaliland.
