The government has at last responded to irking rumours of the port of Zeyla which has been attributed to Ethiopia in the social media circles for the best part of the week.
The Prime Minister of Ethiopia who gave a speech in the Ethiopian Parliament last week talked about their desire for ports in neighboring countries, such as Zeyla in Somaliland or Assab in Eritrea.
Minister of Information and Government Spokesperson Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Koore said that Zeyla port was, is and will always be in the Republic of Somaliland.
In a message he posted on Twitter yesterday, Hon. Koore said,
“Zeyla belongs to Somaliland, and it will be forever thus.”
This statement dispels the rumours catalyzed by phobia that is without grounds.
