Reports from the Baay region indicate that Southwest State troops carried out a planned operation early on Saturday morning in the village of Raamo Huddo, located in the Gaalooga settlement approximately 20 to 30 km from Baidoa. According to Southwest State Spokesman Hassan Ali Mohamed, the operation targeted Al-Shabab members who were believed to be present in the area. While Mohamed stated that the operation resulted in heavy casualties for Al-Shabab, he did not provide any further details on the number of casualties. Security officials have stated that this operation was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in settlements surrounding Baidoa, the administrative seat of Southwest State authority. However, tensions are currently high in the vicinity of Baidoa due to the presence of opposition groups who strongly oppose President Laftagaren. These groups are reportedly organizing troops in the area, with sources indicating that troops from Buurhakaba have joined their movements. It is believed that their objective is to prevent the upcoming elections in Southwest State regions. In response, reports state that Southwest State troops launched a raid on these groups yesterday afternoon, further escalating security and political tensions in the region.
