South Sudanese president Salva Kiir has today morning left for Eritrea on a working visit at the invitation of Isaias Afwerki, President of Eritrea.

According to President Kiir’s press office, he will attend the celebrations of the peace accord between Ethiopia and Eritrea.

The South Sudanese leader will also meet his Eritrean counterpart Isaias Afwerki and Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in Asmara today to discuss issues of mutual interest.

At war for the last two decades, Ethiopia and Eritrea have dramatically brought an end one of Africa’s longest conflicts with a declaration by both sides to adhere to peace.
