Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro who is on a visit to Kenya held a meeting with Kenya’s Speaker of National Assembly, Hon. Moses Masika Watengula.
The President and the Speaker of Kenya’s National Assembly discussed that the two parliaments of Somaliland and Kenya to have a cooperation.
They also discussed ways to strengthen the legislative relationship between the two countries through dialogue, official visits and exchanging expertise and the cooperation between the gov’t agencies.
They also talked about ways to enhance the democratic process. The two sides reached a common understanding to share the experience on the implementation of democracy, improving the electoral system and the work of the parliaments.
The President and the Speaker also spoke about the regional stability and progress.
They talked about ways to strengthen the role that the legislative bodies to have in peace, security and lasting progress in the Horn of Africa.
Somaliland President, Abdirahman Irro demonstrated that he is excited that Kenya understands fully the political and democratic progress that Somaliland achieved.
The Speaker of Kenya’s National Assembly, Moses Masika Wetangula praised the stability, the peace and the democracy that Somaliland achieved.
He also confirmed to the President that Kenya’s National Assembly is ready to have full working cooperation with the legislative bodies in Somaliland.
He attested that Kenya’s Legislative body will implement agreements reached between the governments of Kenya and Somaliland.
Finally, the two sides acknowledged the importance that the parliament should be used as a vehicle for diplomacy in order to strengthen the understanding and set up a cooperation between the two countries.
