Hon. Abdilahi Hassan Adan, Minister of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland, met with senior World Bank officials, including Country Manager Hideki Matsunaga, at the bank’s Nairobi headquarters on Wednesday.
The high-level discussions focused on strengthening cooperation and advancing World Bank-supported initiatives in Somaliland, amid ongoing efforts to enhance economic growth and public services in Somaliland.
The meeting, described as constructive and collaborative, reviewed the progress of existing projects, addressed implementation challenges, and explored ways to expand partnerships. Key areas of emphasis included:
- Accelerating the rollout of ongoing development initiatives,
- Streamlining execution mechanisms for greater efficiency,
- Maximizing the effectiveness and long-term impact of World Bank investments in Somaliland.
Both parties agreed to fast-track agreements from prior talks held in Hargeisa and to intensify efforts to advance current projects.
Minister Aadan expressed profound gratitude to the World Bank team, singling out Mr. Hideki Matsunaga for their tangible support. He reaffirmed Somaliland’s dedication to deepening ties aimed at improving community services and fostering sustainable economic development.
This engagement comes as the World Bank continues to support resilience-building projects across the Horn of Africa, including water infrastructure and capacity development initiatives that benefit nations like Somaliland.
