Somaliland Deputy President Launches livestock treatment drive

HARGEISA– The Deputy President of Somaliland H.E Mohamed Aw Abdi, on Thursday officially launched treatment drive where 500, 000 livestock will benefit from the project.

The launching ceremony which was held in the livestock ministry compound saw the attendance of Deputy President, officials from the livestock and rural development ministry, Director Generals, veterinarians, presidential spokesman, experts who are implementing the treatment drive and other invited guests. Officials spoke about the importance of the treatment drive for the livestock and how the current leadership is committed to develop the country’s livestock. The deputy livestock minister plus the director general both reiterated that the project will be beneficial to the health of Somaliland livestock across the country. The minister in charge of agriculture said that the campaign which the livestock ministry launched came at a critical situation when the country is facing the drought.

The minister responsible for livestock and rural development Hon. Omar Shuaib underlined that the project is part of the current leadership to develop the health of Somaliland livestock. He said that it was part of the election campaign in which the current gov’t is fulfilling its promises. He added that the project entails providing nutrition, killing parasites and treating the livestock from other diseases. The Deputy President made the remarks that this administration is keen to develop the country’s livestock.
