The Minister of Civil Aviation and Airports Development of the Republic of Somaliland, Hon. Fuad Ahmed Nouh, held productive talks with British Members of Parliament from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords at the Palace of Westminster on December 17.
The high-level meeting, attended by Somaliland’s Ambassador to the UK Hon. Said Hassan Bihi and Deputy Ambassador Hon. Mohamed, addressed ongoing travel disruptions. Discussions centered on the difficulties faced by travelers, particularly Somaliland citizens and residents, as well as British nationals flying to Somaliland.
Minister Fuad described the engagement as highly successful, emphasizing efforts to strengthen Somaliland-UK relations. “It is a great pleasure for us to be at the center of the British Parliament,” he stated. “We held a meeting with MPs from both houses—the Lords and Commons—as well as the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) team. We discussed ways to strengthen relations between Somaliland and the UK, easing migration issues and existing obstacles, particularly for British citizens traveling from the UK to Somaliland, and finding solutions to any challenges. We also discussed matters related to aviation development and airports.”
Somaliland’s Ambassador to the UK Hon. Said Hassan Bihi echoed the positive outcome, telling media after the meeting: “Today, December 17, 2025, the leadership of the Somaliland Embassy in the UK and the Minister of Aviation Hon. Fuad held a meeting with the Parliament of Britain. We discussed many issues concerning the two countries, and it ended with mutual understanding.”
The meeting underscores Somaliland’s push for smoother bilateral cooperation with the UK in aviation, migration, and broader diplomatic ties.
