12 people were confirmed dead while scores of others including the clan militia and other civilian were injured in inter-clan clashes that erupted in Sanaag province.
The clashes occurred in Dureere area which is located in between Damalla-Xaragge and Shimbiraale areas in Sanaag province.
The deadly confrontations were fueled by disputes pertaining to grazing rights according to initial reports.
The tension is running high and efforts were underway to bring the situation under control as far as the clan communal clashes are concerned.
Regional officials reached the area where the two clans clashed and the warring sides accepted to end the dispute by peaceful manner.
The traditional elders were part of the ongoing efforts to resolve the grazing dispute which led to the fighting that broke out between the two brotherly clans.
A delegation headed by Sultan Saed Sultan Abdisalan left for the area where the two clans fought in order to find a lasting solution to the grazing dispute.
