Somalia’s Poll Agency has repudiated and said that it has no plans to postpone the upcoming 2020/2021 polls over fears of the spread of the deadly Covid-19 concerns.

In an official statement, the poll agency has urged the remembers of the public to turn blind eyes on social media statements that have been circulated.

The agency has argued that the information was not sourced from the agency.

“The Indepdent Poll Agency confirms to the Somali populace that reports claiming the committee is planning to delay the upcoming election is fake.” a statement from the commission read.

Somalia’s main opposition groups have warned a possible election delay or an extension of the term of President Farmajo’s administration using Covid-19 as a scapegoat.
