The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with local defense forces known as Ma’awisley, conducted a planned security operation last evening in a location between the Yasooman and Moqokori settlements in the Hiiraan region. The operation targeted members of the militant group Al-Shabab, according to the Ministry of Defense. Intelligence reports had indicated that the group was planning an attack on vehicles carrying civilians in the Hiiraan province. During the operation, the Somali troops pursued the militants and killed four of them, as well as destroying their vehicle. This security operation is part of ongoing efforts to target Al-Shabab members in Central and South Somalia. In recent days, the group has faced pressure from fighting and airstrikes in the Shabelle, Jubba, and Hiiraan regions, resulting in the deaths of senior leaders and fighters. The Somali Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to intensify operations against Al-Shabab in order to ensure the security and stability of the country and its population.
