The Somali National Army (SNA), specifically the Danab Commandos, have successfully regained control of Hawaadley township in Middle Shabelle province after launching a military operation targeting Al-Shabab fighters stationed there. According to sources within the settlement, the Danab Commandos engaged in a brief fight and were able to remove the Al-Shabab fighters from the town. They are currently conducting operations to maintain security and stabilize Hawaadley and its surrounding areas. In recent days, Somali troops have intensified their operations against Al-Shabab in Middle Shabelle, with additional troops being deployed to maximize security and deter attacks. SNA officers have reported armed skirmishes between Al-Shabab and Somali troops in settlements near Hawaadley, with face-to-face battles taking place. However, there has been no official statement released by the Somali Federal Government or Hirshabelle authority regarding casualties from the conflict. This operation is believed to be part of a larger military campaign known as the “Silent Operation,” which has been ongoing in Lower and Middle Shabelle provinces for the past few days. The objective of this campaign is to remove Al-Shabab from areas under their control in these provinces.
