Somali President held a meeting with Commanders of Somali troops in Moqokori district

Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud during his stay in Moqokori district held a high level meeting with deputy president of Hirshabelle as well as Commanders of Somali troops who are spearheading the ongoing anti-terrorism operations that are underway in the region. The deputy Hirshabelle president along with Commanders of the Somali troops briefed the President on the achievements and the challenges that are confronted with pertaining to the fight against Al-Shabab militants.

They pointed out that the visit the Head of State embarked to inspect the ground forces in the frontlines would encourage the men in uniform. The Head of State travelled to the frontlines to see the real situation on the ground and in a bid to boost the moral of the Somali troops. He lauded the troops for showing resilience while they are engaged an ongoing battle with the militant group of Al-Shabab.

He said that the troops showed bravery in defending the relentless attacks that the militant group launched attacks on military bases manned by Somali troops. Al-Shabab militants concentrated on districts in Hirshabelle and attempted to take over from Somali troops and local clan forces but the gallant Somali troops overpowered them. During the president’s stay in the frontline,  he will deliver a clear message to the Somali troops not to vacate the districts that they liberated from Al-Shabab and urged them to capitalize on the gains. He will also inform the Military Command to commence operations which are aimed at eliminating Al-Shabab remnants from the region.
