The Somali National Army (SNA) conducted a planned operation on Sunday in villages under the administration of Sablaale settlement in the Lower Shabelle region. During the operation, the Somali army killed an Al-Shabab operative named Timaweyne, who was responsible for extorting money from local residents. The Somali government confirmed in a statement that the troops involved in the operation also confiscated a motorbike and an AK47 gun from the operative. This operation is part of the Somali army’s intensified efforts to combat Al-Shabab in the Shabelle and Jubba regions.
