The Somali National Army (SNA) carried out a planned operation and dismantled Al-Shabab positions in settlements under the administration of Wanleweyn in Lower Shabelle region.
The operation was conducted by units of the 64 Brigade, the 7th Battalion and the 12th April Division in conjunction with Wanleweyn police force.
The operation was carried out particularly in between Leego and Yaaqbari Weyne settlement.
Commander leading the operation told the media that the objective of the operation was to prevent Al-shabab movements and to bolster the overall security in Waleweyn.
Commanders did not disclose the number of casualties from both sides.
Lower Shabelle province is where the militant group of Al-Shabab is strongly present.
