The State Minister of Somalia’s Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ali Bal’ad, has strongly repudiated reports that have been widely circulated in the social media for the past hours, stating that he visited Israel secretly.
A statement he posted on his official X account, Mr. Bal’ad has pointed out this information as baseless lies, declaring that he has not travelled to that country.
The Minister further clarified that there is no reason that he could travel to Israel, since Somalia and Israel do not have any diplomatic relations.
He added that the allegations that have been widely circulated are completely false.
These reports were widely spread on social media, which led the minister to directly respond and remove the claims.
For a long time, Somalia maintained its position that it does not have diplomatic relations with Israel, and it constantly supports the Palestinian issue in international forums.
